It seems like a while ago since Google launched Rich Cards for Movie and Recipe search results. However, since that development in May, there has been another expansion added into the mix.
Now local restaurants and online courses have been introduced to the world of Rich Cards.
But what does this mean?
Rich Cards are a new way to display, presenting a carousel like view. Where the user can scroll left and right, displaying more individual courses or restaurants.
Rich Cards give businesses the chance to engage more and more users to their site. Simply by using a relevant search (such as best online accountancy courses) they will be presented with several different results. These come from reliable sources such as Open University and Harvard. As well as Time Out and TripAdvisor for restaurants.
AMP and Rich Cards
AMP HTML is not necessary if you are interested in building local restaurant or online courses verticals. However, AMP will give the end user a much faster experience, which will make them all the happier. In fact, a user that is accessing content which is AMP’d will be greeted with near instant results as they swipe from recipe to recipe or course to course.
If the Rich Card catches their eye and they click on it, then they will be taken directly to your related AMP page.
Implementing Rich Cards
Realising that this addition is going to be incredibly popular. Google have made the some important changes to their implementation processes and tools.
This includes changes to:
· The structured data testing tool
· The Rich Cards Report
· The AMP test
Is anything else in the pipeline
It seems that Rich Cards are great additions. So, naturally Google are looking into ways that they can make even more Rich Cards opportunities for businesses. This means that they can attract more traffic by previewing some of the content that is found on your site.
We are excited to see what changes are going to be made over the next couple of years. We are sure that more and more types of businesses will be given the Rich Cards treatment. Meaning that they will see an increase on their traffic and hopefully their sales too!
